Headphone Commute’s Best of 2009 : Music For Caffeine Free Car Chases

Here’s the last list of music, highlighting my favorite albums of the year. Hope you enjoyed this trip. Meanwhile, my neighbors are going to go ahead and whine about the loud music coming from my office. I guess it’s time to go riding in the night. Start the engine, turn up the volume, and blast them with one last bass roar before I take off. Might be a blessing in disguise, since these type of sounds require rapid activity, instead of sitting still at my desk. Riding at top speeds in my car, the wind in my hair, these are the sounds of extreme video game chases. Who needs the caffeine?

  1. You missed a few:

Fanu – Homefree (Lightless Recordings) – One of my favorites from 2009. Hard to pick a favorite from there, all exceptionally great tracks.

Ill Logic & Raf – Darkness At Noon (Bingo Beats) – This one surprised me. I haven’t heard of those guys before, but it’s a really great release. More people should know about this one.

Alaska & Paradox – Isolationist (Paradox Music) – Drum & bass on the atmospheric tip.

Polar – In The End (Warm Communications) – Again on the more atmospheric side of drum & bass. “High Voltage” is just too good!

Dom & Roland – No Strings Attached (Dom & Roland Productions) – Great dark drum & bass. My favorite is “Jungle Beast”, it’s so immense.

Haven’t picked up Lynx & Kemo’s “Raw Truth”, Digital & Outrage’s “Red Letter” yet. Also Gridlok released his new album called “Void” in the end of 2009.

  2. Missed a lot of drum’n’bass past years. Nice to hear some fresh tunes and discovering that there is still progression in the genre. Thanks!

  3. Thank You Thank You Thank You! You have gone above and beyond on these lists. I compiled a list of 30+ albums I now have to purchase :D My favorite is “Withered leaves and lonely fishtanks” Hope to see lots more good stuff from you this year, thanks for the wonderful blog.
